CHRIST, OASIS OF THE DESERT

Life is a desert and perhaps all physical deserts are symbolic representations of life´s desert. Great initiates of the past chose deserts to fast or to inhabit them; perhaps they did it in order to make them greener and more abundant, in such a way, transform life into a vast green Oasis.

Since the fall of Adam, man has struggled in search of greenery, of an oasis, of a home.

To understand the march of Adam in search of his lost paradise, it is necessary to delve into the etymology of the word “Adam” in Arabic. It is composed of three letters (آدم  ). The first letter is Alef ( ا ). It represents man, the only living being with a straight spine; and as Aleph is the first letter of the alphabet, the man “Adam” is Alpha, the beginning of Creation.

The Aleph ( ا ), the One (ا ) and the straight column of man have the same symbolic form.

The other two letters configure Dam (دم  ) meaning blood. In this way, Adam is the “man of blood”, the “red man”. So, red color and blood represent the warrior and the fight for bread- a survival for life.

In the Arab tradition, the prophet Elijah is often confused with Khidr, which means green, that is, the green man who comes to instruct great beings and teach them the constructive science of life in their permanent growth.

Fight and abundance (red and green) go together, because they are opposites and complementary.

Let’s see how red and green are complementary. Following the experience of Physics, when focusing the gaze for a few seconds on a circle painted in green and then looking away to another sheet of completely white color, a faint circle of red color is observed.

Inverting the experience with a circle painted in red, we observe the manifestation of green color on the white sheet. From this effect, we can conclude that these two colors are opposite and complementary. They are generators of each other. The same way, fight and abundance go together and each generates the other.

Adam, the red man, symbol of every man struggling for his evolution, is in search of abundance, personified by the green man (khidr) that is asleep within him.

Man is in eternal search, but he needs to know what he really seeks.

Man seeks an oasis, a true home. He seeks the complement of his red, of his struggle. He seeks the green.

Christ said, “Foxes have burrows and birds have nests, but the son of man has nowhere to lay his head.”

Man, the most sublime of beings and the most intelligent, has no home.

Birds have their nests and all animals are content with their homes on Earth. They do not think, they do not have conscience or intelligence like man. He is the only conscious being who knows that life itself is transient, so he sees that Earth is not his real residence. He doesn’t take root here. He does not find his home because he knows, one way or another, that he does not fully belong to this world. A temporary residence does not satisfy him. Man, when he comes into this world, seems to come from “The Beyond”. He passes through this life as a stranger, or maybe as an intruder who does not identify with it. His spirit seeks a more lasting home. A home that is not fleeting, but eternal. His intelligence is not content with nests or burrows, as animals do. He is the only one among living beings who refuses to accept death as a natural process, because he realizes that there is something beyond life itself.

From this unconscious sensation, his spirituality arises. It is nothing more than a deep search for an Oasis where he can rest his spirit and feel that he is in his true home. In fact, the search begins when one knows that homes of this world are mirages, are illusions, and that man is just a pilgrim on Earth.

Spirituality and seeking God are expressions of the search for a home to relief the being when it is restless, the soul when it is helpless, and life when it is chaotic or red. It is Adam’s struggle that resides within us. This home is not a space for the body; only the body is born of the body and needs a space in this world. But a soul is not born of the body: it is born of love. Its sustenance comes from another dimension, from another source. The soul has its home in the spirit. It must receive love and be nourished by it, just as a child when gestated by his mother. This love that brings “fullness of life” is the same love that produces Jesus´ child within every man.

The seed of love belongs to everyone and not just Jesus Christ. Christ is Love´s principle that dwells in us. For that reason, he was born in a cave in Beth-Lahem, which means in Arabic “House of Flesh”. The grotto symbolizes the interior of man and Beth-Lahem (House of Flesh) symbolizes our body of bone and flesh.

It is not enough for man to be born of the body. He must be born again on a plane above his struggles and above the desert of his life. At his first birth, the child had no choice. He was unconscious. But the second is the only birth that man can choose.

In the first birth, the child is born into this physical world; he feeds for nine months with his mother’s blood and then nourishes himself with the milk of her breasts, in order to later be able to ingest the green. The first birth is wild and is closer to an animal state, where Adam could be seen as the fetus in the Womb of History, and represents the fighting man (man of blood) who feeds for generations from the blood of Mother Earth.

The second birth is angelic and leads to a conception on another plane – rooted in a spiritual consciousness. However, Adam is the symbol of every human being on his way back to his real home, to life´s Oasis, up till the visit of the child Jesus to his soul; when a new cycle of whiteness begins; knowing that white is the link between red and green. White is peace, it is the snow of Christmas symbolizing the purification that precedes abundance – the green of spring -.

White is the link between Man and God. In this cycle, man represented by the child Jesus is nourished from the milk of the Cosmic Mother; of the purity which is the color of the Dove of the Holy Ghost. This way, the fetus Adam, fed by blood, leaves the Womb of History – Screen of Old Testament- he leaves the red, to give place to the child Jesus- symbol of absolute purity expressed by the Sacred Spirit; the white, the snow.

At this stage, man’s lower nature must die in order to give its space to the spirit – to the divine principle. It is only in this way that the sphinx deliberates its true message: “when our inside angel is able to devour the existing animal within us”.

The angel announces the coming of a new being, where there are possibilities to bring freedom to the soul, to move life in the aim of transforming all and everything.

At the beginning of creation, a woman was miraculously born from a man. Eve was born from Adam and there was a fall in consciousness, in the instinctual center. Sin was born from Sex and the cycle of struggle was established.

In contrast, at the beginning of the new calendar of the “Christian Era”, the Universe reverses its polarity and miraculously a man was born from a woman. Jesus of Mary was born and there was an elevation in the instinctive center. In this, Sex undergoes a transcendental transformation and the coming of an age of abundance is established.

In this way, Christ accomplishes the objective* of the great universal initiation by closing the historical circuit between vision and the instinctive center. The cycle of the evil serpent which seduced Eve is closed and, with the coming of Mary, the serpent is defeated, starting a new cycle.

In this new stage, Christic forces stimulate universal energies, demanding from man a work on his sexual potentialities, converging them towards a higher intelligence, towards a higher vision where love will serve as an instrument for the realization of this transcendental alchemy. In this new era, man is no longer required to cultivate his muscles for the great wars, but his intellectual capacity.

There is yet to come a time when man will detach himself from the whiteness of purification, from the home of this world that is just a passage, and will be ready to ingest the green of abundance to live in his oasis forever.

Jesus said to Nicodemus, “Verily, unless one is born again, he cannot see the kingdom of God.” Nicodemus asked, “How can a man be born when he is old? Can he enter his mother’s womb and be born?” And Jesus answered, “Verily, unless one is born of the Spirit, he cannot enter the kingdom. What is born of the flesh is flesh and what is born of the Spirit is spirit.”

The second birth is the birth of the spirit and it takes place on another plane, that of consciousness; in a spiritual awareness that man is eternal and is well supported by heavenly forces. He is not alone. There will always be stars shining for him, angels, noble pilgrims and kings bringing him offerings. There will be Josephs and Marys. Also, there will be an ox and a mule warming his manger.

A mule blows patience and wisdom; and, an ox announces a new fertile era. With patience and fecundity, green gardens could be built in arid soils.

Certainly, where there are gardens, there are no deserts.

Christ is a home that must be searched for.

It is necessary to work love´s principle within us, so that our soul can emerge and conceive Jesus’ child. A child, who teaches our soul to be born without home; to be born in a grotto, since homes of this world are simply mirages.
